Well after what felt like a very overwhelming first day of Team of the Year, we now move onto Day number two and the content does not stop coming. EA has dropped another huge SBC for us in the form of Joshua Kimmich in a Flashback item!
You might feel a little hesitant with this SBC after the pricetag of yesterday’s Flashback Kevin De Bruyne, and you’d be right to feel that way! Kimmich is never shy of receiving special cards that look absolutely incredible and this card is no stranger to that. Especially after the latest patch as this Kimmich Item comes with Anticipate and Long Ball Pass+. Two very important playstyles at the moment so i’m absolutely here for this card.
Outside of Playstyles, this Kimmich has received a +5 on his Globetrotters item which also see’s +4s across the board with a +7 to his physical stats. He has also been given a boost to his skill moves up to 4* skills which for this item, although isn’t crucial, it is nice!
For Chemstyle here the anchor is a clear winner. However, if you are considering using him at RB, you may want to opt for an Engine to ensure his pace gets a boost as well as dribbling.

A whopping 13 segments in total here which of course is nowhere near the 20 we had for KDB yesterday, but there is still a lot to unpack here. The total cost for this SBC is coming in at 1.25 million coins in value. A lot of negativity around the price here and it’s understandable. But it’s worth noting that this looks like an elite tier card that we all have a month to grind toward. There are plenty of packs available for grinding so I wouldn’t be too deterred by this SBC.
How did he perform in-game?
+ Passing on this card certainly was the standout stat as he very rarely struggled to find his man. Whether it be utilizing the Long Ball Pass+ or threading through balls, he could set up anything.
+ Defensively he’s solid of course. Using the Anticipate+ meant he easily intercepted the ball and clamped down on the opposition with strong tackles that often won back possession.
+ His positioning in midfield was also impressive as he pressed up and down the pitch often and put a quick block to attacking plays from the opposition.
+ He was incredibly agile on the ball too as when he moved on the ball it was as if the ball had been glued to his boot.
+ He’s also had a real nice pace boost as well that allows him to suit the RB role should you wish to play him in that position, though I think he is much better suited as a defensive mid/ box-to-box mid.
/ His shooting can’t be faulted either, he often ended up in goal-scoring positions and whilst he doesn’t have that “wow” factor when it comes to shooting, he is capable of putting the ball in the back of the net should you need him to.
Kimmich - Cop or Flop?
For some time now I’ve been really searching for my next CDM and I think my search can end. This card was absolutely incredibly well-rounded but did such a solid job defensively. He does well to win the ball back, but on top of that, he then has the ability to ping the ball up the pitch with such accuracy that he often sets up goals for defense due to the long ball pass+.
This is of course a very expensive SBC so my suggestion here would be that you should only really complete this SBC if it doesn’t require a shuffle of your squad. I say this because Bayern Munich has done very well thus far with SBCs. I still currently use the FC Pro Boey and Winter Wildcard Sane so this Kimmich is an absolute no-brainer for me. But we’ve also recently had a Coman item drop as well, so I feel this one can be quite easy to link. It just won’t be cheap. So if you have the facilities then I would recommend picking this one up!
Verdict = COP
