FC 25 90 Flashback Suarez Player Review - Cop or Flop

Ever since the day he signed with Inter Miami and reunited with Messi, I have been patiently waiting for Luis Suarez to get his inevitable Flashback item in FC25 and today is the day. EA has finally dropped this Flashback Suarez SBC and it looks to be an absolute banger with simply 4 segments to complete. This one could be huge!

Of course, this isn’t the first special Suarez item. He has had a Globetrotters card that certainly has a nice edge to it for the Chem boost. But I hoped this card would come as late as possible as no one wants a low-rated Suarez card that falls off fast. This is a +2 on his Globetrotters card and for Playstyle Pluses, it comes with Finesse and Quick Step.

Major props to EA for even bringing back the Dynamic image that was on the FIFA 22 FUT Birthday Suarez item! It’s details like this we can appreciate and I am loving the nostalgia overload this promo has provided. But onto the card itself. As mentioned, he has been given a +2 up to a 90-rated card with some fair +2s & 3s to his base stat. He has also been boosted up to 5*/5* for Weak Foot and Skill moves. This card has also been given the Poacher, False 9 & Target Forward ++ roles. On face value, this card looks really nice but I can’t help but wish he was a couple of ratings higher so that he has that longevity.. Fingers crossed he fits into an Evo in the near future! 

I didn’t have to think twice when it came to the Chemstyle. I opted straight for the Hunter as I really wanted to max out the Pace and Shooting. Alternatively, the Engine would also be something he would benefit nicely from.

Only 4 segments here, which certainly makes a nice change from the highly expensive SBCs we have had as of late. A price tag of roughly 175k to complete which all in all is really great value considering the Globetrotters item is only 30k less at the current time. Sure it has the Chem boost, but 30k for an upgrade and better PS+s is a no-brainer for me!

How did he perform in-game?

+ His shooting was absolutely clinical. He rarely missed his mark. Whatever type of shot you took he was able to finish with ease. 

+ Being the physical player that he is, it was no surprise that his Strength was very effective when making attacking runs. He easily burst through players and held them off before taking a shot on goal. He felt unstoppable.

+ Speaking of bursting through, his Pace was also really nice. He was able to make quick bursting sprints that would leave the opposition struggling to keep up.

+ Positionally he was solid too, always moving into the right space to quickly receive the ball and send it into the back of the net.

/ Dribbling for me felt inconsistent. He was great at controlling the ball in tight spaces but when trying to apply a bit of speed to his dribbling, he could feel a little bit clunky.

Suarez- Cop or Flop?

I’ve been waiting a while for this SBC to come and for me it did not disappoint. He was great in-game however, he isn’t quite on the Elite level of striker. It’s a fun nostalgic item but if you are looking for a striker to use competitively, then perhaps this may not be the one for you. But his shooting certainly did impress as he rarely missed his shot. He’s versatile with it too as he can easily score Finesses, Trivelas, power shots, you name it he can do it! I just felt the other aspects of this card is what is keeping him from being an “Elite” striker in comparison to the other cards in the game.

Otherwise, for Casual/Fun gameplay, this is a great striker option that is incredibly affordable! If you have the coins/fodder to spare and want to change things up a bit then absolutely pick up this item! Here’s hoping soon enough, this card can fit into an Evo that could push him up to the elite level of striker.
